Il signifie litt\u00e9ralement \u00absans parole\u00bb et repr\u00e9sente donc une \u00abperte du langage\u00bb. L\u2019aphasie se manifeste lorsque les zones du langage situ\u00e9es dans l\u2019h\u00e9misph\u00e8re c\u00e9r\u00e9bral dominant, en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral l\u2019h\u00e9misph\u00e8re gauche, sont l\u00e9s\u00e9es. Toutefois, l\u2019aphasie n\u2019entra\u00eene pas dans tous les cas une perte totale du langage.
